There are rules of online safety all children should know. With coming-of-age some points will change, some will be added, but in the most cases they remain the same:

  1. It is forbidden to share personal information about the address, telephone number, email, parents’ work and telephone numbers, place of study and where you spend free time. It is forbidden to share the same information about family members, friends and acquaintances.
  2. Anything that makes a child feel uncomfortable, has to be shown to the parents.
  3. It is forbidden to agree to meet with online friends on offline terms – at first it is necessary to ask the permission of parents. Moreover, this meeting should be help in a public place and one of the parents will go with a child.
  4. The parents should be acquainted with the images and other multimedia files that children are going to share on their social media account.
  5. If a child receives a message from stranger or the message with strange content, a child should never answer to it and show the message to the parents immediately. And it is necessary to take into consideration that it is forbidden to follow links sent by strangers or open files from unknown contacts. It can contain malware, viruses or abusive content.
  6. The time of the Internet browsing should be scheduled.
  7. The password should remain secret to anyone except parents.
  8. The downloading and installing of the software should be agreed with parents
  9. The child will follow the rules of correct online behavior and will never do the things that will harm or abuse others or break the law.
  10. Sometimes parents are not as tech savvy as their children, so it is a children’s duty to help parents to figure out how to use online technologies.
